As shown on this slide, Microchip provides PIMs (plug in modules) to evaluate the dsPIC33EP and PIC24EP motor control families. The PIM on the top left, dsPIC33EP256MC506 external op-amp PIM enables using the op-amps on the MCLV-2 and MCHV-2 boards. This PIM comes with a 64-pin dsPIC33EP256MC506 TQFP device. The PIM in the center, dsPIC33EP256MC506 internal op-amp PIM enables use of internal, on chip op-amps on the MCLV-2 and MCHV-2 boards. The PIM on the bottom left, dsPIC33EP256GP506 general purpose plug in module (PIM) comes with a 64-pin dsPIC33EP256GP506 TQFP device and enables users to explore the features of the 70 MIPS dsPIC33EP and PIC24EP general purpose devices using the Explorer 16 development board.
