The customer requirement was that the 320 x 128 sized display be able to offer consistent performance over a range of -40°C up through 85°C. Although the design included a LCD heater, degradation of the display contrast at either extreme of the temperature range was an issue. Lumex was able to create a fluid and polarizer combination that was stable enough to survive repeated high/low temperature cycling while maintaining the contrast and performance. After six months of testing, Lumex emerged as the leader in providing both an attractive and effective high/low temperature LCD module that met all of the customer’s needs.
