Product List
When the switch is closed, the two capacitors will now be electrically connected. Because capacitor “C1” and capacitor “C2” are now in parallel, the two capacitors will share the initial charge “Q1”. In other words, the capacitor “C2” will absorb some of the charge from capacitor “C1”. The final voltage across “C2” will be determined by the sum of “C1” and “C2” and the initial charge “Q1”. The equation shows that as the capacitance of “C2” increases, the resulting voltage “V2” decreases.
