discretepower-vs-module-slide16

The module approach is much simpler in the design, PCB layout, and manufacturing for the same power rail requirements. The product definition for the individual power requirements normally takes the same amount of time as compared to a discrete design, simply to get consensus from a design team. The speedier and simpler approach to designing with the modules is in implementing the schematic, the prototype build, which is simply placing the module on a prototype board, the debug process, and PCB layout. If there are any issues in the testing/debug of the modules, the customer can call Renesas for assistance. Finally, since Renesas provides the PCB board layout files, the layout time is greatly reduced from 80 hours to 16 hours. The module approach reduces the man hours to 136 hours, a 58% cost savings.
