The thermal shutdown is depicted in this graph. On the right of the graph, note that during over-temperature hysteresis cycling, the over-current protection levels never return to the initial (25°C) values. The auto-restart frequency will depend on the overload conditions such as supply voltage and load resistance and the thermal environment, typically PCB designs including copper land area and placement, vias, adjacent hardware and components.
