Version 5 of the EU’s Code of Conduct on Energy Efficiency of External Power Supplies defines Tier 1 requirements that are broadly equivalent to DoE Level VI standards although there are some notable differences. The key difference is a new 10% load measure, which imposes efficiency requirements under a low-load condition where historically most types of power supplies have been notoriously inefficient. Requirements are defined with different limits for both standard voltage and low voltage adapters. Also, it is important to note that CoC does not distinguish between direct and indirect operation external power adapters.
