Another consideration is how the switch will be mounted in the design. The panel mount option includes either hardware style or snap-in. The hardware style uses hardware, such as nuts and washers, to mechanically fasten the switch to a panel, whereas the snap-in mount switch has a retaining feature incorporated in the switch assembly and does not require additional hardware to hold it in the panel. There are also two types of printed circuit board mounts for switches, either through-hole soldered mount or soldered surface mount. A through-hole mounted has terminals which extend through holes in the PCB and are attached by soldering. Surface mount switches are soldered to pads on the surface of the PCB.
