Electromechanical switches are manufactured in many different forms, this slide shows the primary criteria for selecting the appropriate switch. In order to select a switch, the user must consider what type would best fit the application, beginning with the actuation, with choices such as toggle switches, rocker, pushbutton, slide, navigation, or rotary switches. The way the switch operates, momentary contact or latching, and the number of circuits being switched are critical to the choice, as well as the method of mounting the switch. Also, the operating life of the switch can be crucial, plus whether or not the application requires an environmentally sealed switch, and what level of sealing is required.
