The block diagram shown here represents an all-Microchip secure RFID solution using Microchip’s CryptoRF, 13.56 MHz Reader IC, CryptoCompanion, and AVR or ARM microcontroller. The CryptoRF is a 13.56 MHz ISO 14443 Type B offering in the “HF,” or high frequency, space. This family of products features user memory densities up to 64 kb and can be delivered in a variety of tag form factors, module form for smart card applications, and wafer form. CryptoRF supports the same crypto logic and security feature set as CryptoMemory. The supporting Reader IC is compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V host microcontrollers, and is packaged in a 36-pin QFN. This small footprint is ideal for embedded system designs. The same CryptoCompanion IC for host-side security used with CryptoMemory supports CryptoRF as well and is 5 V compatible.
