Product List
The next example involves battery pack authentication. There are many handheld products that use a lithium ion battery pack. Cloned batteries cause safety concerns as well as performance and quality issues. Adding hardware authentication ICs to the system in order to authenticate the battery to the host protects the OEM’s revenue stream. Additionally, if a battery can not authenticate with the host because it is a clone, the OEM avoids potential safety and performance issues.
