The radio transceiver provides a complete turnkey interface between the antenna and the microcontroller core. It comprises the analog radio, digital modulation and demodulation, including time and frequency synchronization and data buffering. By minimizing the number of additional external components required for the radio interface, only the antenna, the crystal for a high-precision reference frequency generation and decoupling capacitors are required. The bidirectional differential antenna input/output pins are used for transmission and reception, thus no external antenna switch is needed in the basic configuration. The radio interface stands out due to its high RF performance and its integrated feature set, which reduce the communication interface to the microcontroller core to an absolute minimum.
