PulseOx-Slide8

The light absorbed varies with each pulse. If light absorption is measured at one point of the pulse wave and then compared with the absorption at another point, then the difference between the values is due to arterial blood alone. The modulation of light absorbance is small, about 0.5-10% of total, and the possibility for errors due to other absorbers is significant.
