This slide features a block diagram of a working demo board that utilizes ADI’s ADuC7024 microcontroller and its on board peripherals. The AD8606 high impedance, low bias current op amp is needed to process the photodiodes and is configured as a transimpedance amplifier. The dc and background noise are subtracted out, and the pulsed signals are then scaled. Two methods commonly used to calculate the SpO2: calculated and lookup tables. The demo board includes an AD8231 programmable gain amplifier with a settable gain of 1-28. Over-sampling, filtering and signal processing are included in order to eliminate noise such as the movement artifacts from the small signals and allows for the pulse rate to be measured. External 16 bit ADC may be needed for clinical performance SP02.
