Allegro is one of the world's major magnetic sensor suppliers, serving the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets. In the field of automotive, the transition to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and full-battery electric vehicles (BEV) led to the development of a variety of high-end current sensors covering applications like the main inverter, HVAC generator, DC/DC converters, battery current monitoring, and the main motor inverter. These applications require high bandwidth sensors in order to provide stable and efficient control of inductive loads like motors or pumps. With increasing concerns about the global demand for energy and environmental awareness, power electronics applications are under pressure to improve efficiency. The renewable energy market also requires highly accurate small form factor sensors such as those used in micro-inverters for PV solar arrays. The major challenge associated with solar energy production is the conversion of the DC currents generated by the PV panel to the sinusoidal AC current of the power grid. These devices require high voltage isolation, as they are tied to high voltage generation DC panels (1500 VDC) or the grid on the load side of the inverter (230 VAC).
