In summary, Allegro MicroSystems has developed a line of fully-integrated Hall-effect current sensor ICs that provide highly accurate output voltage signals proportional to the applied current (ratiometric). Allegro sensors also feature field current sensors that are core-based or coreless in order to measure much higher voltages up to 2000 A. Advanced IC and packaging techniques enable bandwidth improvements up to 1 MHz as well as low noise amplifier designs that improve device accuracy throughout the entire operating temperature range (up to 150°C). The proprietary packaging techniques also provide small form factor devices with galvanic isolation, low internal conductor values (down to 0.1 mΩ), and many user-programmable features that allow more flexibility. These technical advances allow design engineers to take advantage of the benefits from Hall-effect based current sensors into applications where current transformer or shunt resistors were traditionally used, hence improving the energy efficiency, cost, and size of the next generation of industrial and automotive products.
