REDFIT-Slide7

One of the benefits of SKEDD technology is that no mating connector is required to connect REDFIT IDC to the circuit board. A complete part is lost, which results in direct savings of material, purchasing, handling, storage, and process costs. The contact resistance of the overall system is 10 mΩ max. This low value is the result of using IDC on the cable side, SKEDD direct plug-in technology instead of soldering on the PCB side, and because of this technology, a complete mating connector is lost. Due to the SKEDD direct plug-in technology, it is possible to connect and remove the REDFIT IDC SKEDD connector by hand into the circuit board without using an additional tool. The space saving design of REDFIT IDC is more compact and meets the requirements of smaller devices with less weight. Usually the two-sided mounting of circuit boards is possible without any problems. The manufacturing process for the PCB would be the same for through-hole or press-fit components.
