The main use case is for machine applications. In machines, there are various communication architectures such as RS485, Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, or PROFINET. Single pair Ethernet will facilitate the communication architectures with the help of a transparent IP-based Ethernet communication. Applications include machine-to-machine communication, machine to operational technology communication, and machine-to-device and sensor communication. With the help of single pair Ethernet, intelligent machine modules can be equipped with devices that are sensing, monitoring, calibrating, and communicating in a fast and efficient way.
