Operating Environment Considerations

In addition to mechanical, optical, material, power, and luminosity design considerations, engineers should also pay close attention to the potential environmental conditions that affect lightpipe performance, such as operating temperature, outdoor/indoor lightning conditions, direct sunlight exposure, moisture level and or industry specific certification requirements. If left unattended, these external and not so obvious conditions could pose a treat to their otherwise perfect paper designs. Accounting for these elements at early stages of the lightpipe design will allow for optimized designs that achieve increased productivity and lower overall project costs and corrections down the road.
