The second application, shown here, highlights the cooling of a laser device with a Peltier element, performed in a VHDL-AMS simulation on the SystemVision Cloud. All circuit devices are directly available in the SystemVision libraries, including all Vishay thermistors and RTDs. Specifically, the PTS series of RTD thin film elements is discussed in this series of the training module. As before, the temperature sensing bridge is reading the temperature and provides an input to a PID controller. The PID regulates the current through the Peltier element in order to bring the laser device to +15°C and maintain this temperature no matter what Joule heating is produced (noise factor). It is worth noting how the thermal network (red lines) is discriminated from the electrical circuit (black lines) in this VHDL-AMS software.
