The Osprey’s numerous input and output options provide easy-to-implement system communication and peripheral connectivity. The slightly larger physical size of the Osprey over the previous EPU’s accommodates several I/O interfaces including; USB 3.0 port, a second Gigabit Ethernet Interface, I2C interface, eight digital I/O lines, and an additional mini PCIe socket. Basic on-board features include; two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces with network boot capability, one USB 3.0 host port, four USB 2.0 host ports, an I2C port, eight 3.3 V GPIO ports, three 8254 16-bit timers, and two RS232/422/485 multi-function serial ports. The two on-board mini PCIe card sockets accepts a variety of plug-in modules such as Wi-Fi modems, analog to digital converters, GPS receivers, additional Ethernet ports, flash data storage and other small sized plug-in cards for added flexibility. The full size socket provides PCIe, USB, and mSATA interfaces. The half-sized socket provides PCIe and USB interfaces.
