The Trinamic TMC2130 provides high power density, therefore careful thermal management is a must. In order to ensure safe long term operation the device should not heat up to more than 125°C under normal conditions. In worst case conditions, up to 150°C is safe but might trigger the thermal switch off. In most applications, a standstill current reduction to less than 50% of the run current is sensible, because often holding torque requirements are relaxed due to mechanical friction. This will save a lot of energy, the automatic reduction reduces consumption to about 30%.
