MSP432 Microcontroller Platform Overview - Part 1 of 12 Slide 4
Since performance is a key goal of the MSP432 it was important that the highest performance Cortex M series device was selected as the starting point. Cortex M4F includes access to the full ARM instruction set as well as the DSP extensions and a floating point engine. At the same time, it was important that high performance peripherals and features were incorporated into the device, for example the driver library included in ROM code. Customers can access ROM faster than if the driver library is in Flash. Also, the Flash has two independent banks which allow developers to simultaneously read and write, which saves cycle time. The analog is MSP’s fastest yet with a 1 MSPS 14-Bit ADC, thus allowing developers to sample data faster.
