Typical components of an MSP430 platform are shown on this slide; hardware, software, development tools, and development kits. Which pieces port seamlessly to the MSP432? All the items shown in red that have moved down to MSP432 are the same as in the MSP430. Notice that the only thing that did not port is the core, because the MSP432 has the 32-bit ARM Cortex M4F. There are also some components that are new to MSP432. The new MSP432 modules and ARM modules which will come with new software, customers can program using register level style software or use driver library, and ARM users have the opportunity to take advantage of CMSIS style coding, plus there are new IDEs available such as Keil.
