The Texas Instruments ISOW7841 is a reinforced isolator with integrated power. The benefits of these devices include providing single-chip reinforced isolated power and data. It has higher efficiency than comparable solutions, as well as low radiated emissions and high immunity. The tutorial will review each of these benefits on the following slides. On the right side of this slide, one can see the pinout of this device, which is available in a 16-pin SOIC package. It is a multi-die module in which the left side and the right side dies are isolated by capacitive isolation for the data channels and by a transformer for power. Silicon dioxide is used as the dielectric for signal isolation because it is basically glass, which is temperature and moisture resistant, giving the device very high lifetimes. With high efficiency, low radiated emissions and high immunity, the new ISOW7841 reinforced isolator supports reliable operation of industrial systems.
