Capacitive touch is not without issues. Some of these are: electrical noise can trigger false detects making them unreliable; customers want no compromises while they are driving advanced HMI interfaces; capacitive sensors need to be always on whether in use or not, which continuously drains power; low resolution capacitance measurements lead to false detection or no detection; and capacitive designs are complex and require hardware, software, and mechanical design expertise.
