Solutions for Motion Control PowerSTEP01 Pt 1 of 2 Slide 25

The principle of the voltage mode is to apply a calculated voltage to reach a target current. The applied voltage is a percentage of the DC bus; therefore three parameters must be taken into account. The Back EMF as explained previously. If the DC bus is changing, the percentage must be changed. If the DC bus lowers, the percentage must be increased. This is done thanks to an embedded ADC. As the voltage across the resistance of the motor changes the voltage across the coil of the motor, if the resistance of the motor changes through the temperature, this must also be compensated. The powerSTEP01 has a register to compensate the change of resistance.
