There is a built-in, fully protected voltage regulator that can supply power to the microcontroller, which is external to the L99ASC03, as well as the current sense amplifier block within the L99ASC03 and all of the input/output pins. The regulator is protected against short-circuit and over-temperature, and is capable of supplying 200 mA at 5 V. There is a separate voltage supply for the charge pump so that the charge pumps are not powered by the voltage regulator. However, the 660 nF capacitor eliminates the need for an external electrolytic capacitor due to its high charge capacity. Additionally, it also has a reset pin and a programmable reset threshold.
