There is a current sense amplifier that feeds back phase current measurement via the CSO pin. The gain of this current is programmable to 20x(times), 30x, 70x, 100x, ± 3%. One of the distinct benefits of measuring current is that the CSA block can calculate the inductance of the motor winding by analyzing the charge and discharge times, and decay time. This also allows the device to be programmed with an over-current shutdown protection feature. In addition to the current measurement, the device can measure and send out both the junction temperature of the device, as well as the supply voltage or the regulator voltage, all of which are multiplexed based on microcontroller selection.
