Which IPM should be used for the application? The nominal power of the motor will be the easiest parameter to consider when selecting a module. The SLLIMM™-nano products will cover electric motors up to 300 W. The higher power will require the use of a SLLIMM-nano 2nd series. SLLIMM™ modules will be used up to 3 kW. Please always remember that additional data is required to find the right module for a specific application: switching frequency, current level, voltage level, and what control algorithm will be used can drastically change the performances of a module. SLLIMM™ modules are available in two different packages: full molded (FM) or Direct Bond Copper (DBC). The DBC option will provide a lower thermal resistance, thus improving the performances of the module at higher power. The FM option represents the best trade-off between cost and performances for medium power motors.
