A plot of the frequency response of the same competitor’s top-port MEMS mics shows that it is down about 1.5dB at 100Hz, but at 10kHz it is up 5dB. The reason for this is the large front chamber, causing poor high frequency response. The sensitivity continues to rise above 10kHz. This graph and the one on the previous slide were taken from the competitor’s datasheets; one thing to notice is that normally they only put typical frequency response plots in their data sheets. ST includes a plot of the typical response, but also guarantees the performance from 20Hz to 20kHz.
