On this slide are a few more microphone performance parameters. Sound pressure level has been mentioned previously. The sound pressure level is a logarithmic measure of change in air pressure caused by sound, specified in dB SPL. The acoustic overload point is the maximum sound level that a microphone can record faithfully, also specified in dB SPL. Lastly, the dynamic range of a microphone is the difference between its acoustic overload point, the maximum signal it can record, and its noise floor, the theoretical minimum sound level that it can record. Dynamic range is specified in dB.
