Shown on this slide are some highlights of the different types of Triacs. The T series is known mostly for noise immunity and commutation capability vs. standard Triacs, commonly used in consumer hand tools, kitchen appliances. High-junction temperature Triacs with full performance up to 150°C can be found in power tools, demanding heavy-duty appliances, industrial, and applications where the surge current, ITSM, is a key factor. When there is a need for overvoltage protection, the ACS and ACST are typically selected. ST has 10 A and 12 A parts, as well as the 16 A 1635. There is a new package called the SMBFlat for the small 0.8 A device. In the SCRs, there is the high-junction temperature device at 12 A, in standard and sensitive trigger current-type devices.
