AC Switches Family - Part 1 Slide 7

This slide shows the family of devices from ST’s Triac and thyristor division, starting first with a DIAC. A DIAC is a triggering device that is used commonly to trigger a Triac. These are commonly found in lamp dimmers that are used in the house on the wall, where the operator turns the knob to control the brightness of the light fixture. There is a Diac and a Triac inside the lamp dimmer, the Diac is the triggering device. Shown next is the SCR, both sensitive gate and standard gate, and also high junction temperature. Following this are the Triacs; the standard four-quadrant device, the snubberless and the logic level. Next the ACST, overvoltage-protected, snubberless and logic level, with high junction temperature, along with the ACS with the internal gate amplifier, also overvoltage-protected, and snubberless. Lastly, the application-specific device, the STCC08 for monitoring the operation of the main Triac.
