According to UL, the UTL series is rated at 600V and 16A. When used for CBC, or current breaking circuit applications, it is rated at 277V and 13A. CBC is a specific requirement in the lighting industry and other applications. This means the UTL can be disconnected under current load, which is an unusual performance attribute for a connector series. In addition to UL, CSA and IEC ratings are offered to provide a more global interconnect solution. Again, flammability is a great concern when connectors are close to consumers and installers. The UTL connector is rated UL94-5VA, which is a higher rating than the standard UL94-V0 rating.
