The next few slides answer some questions commonly asked regarding PoE. The first question: Is the PD compliant to IEEE 802.3af? SL Power Electronics provides both compliant and non-compliant versions. A non-compliant power supply simply provides raw power, 48 volts at a certain current level. There is no intelligence to allow the power supply to talk to your application or get the proper signature/handshake. Basically, a non-compliant PSE will power a compliant PD, but not the other way around.
