Wi-SUN is an acronym for wireless smart utility network. Wi-SUN was recently established by the Wi-SUN Alliance in 2013. It is based on IEEE802.15.4g which is a wireless standard specification for smart utility networks. Wi-SUN is suitable for worldwide implementation and is good for an extensive range of applications. Its features include long communication distance, good bendability (meaning that it is able to communicate around obstacles), a large number of frequency channels, and low power consumption.
