Features for the BD9x family switching regulator are shown on this slide. The BD9X series boasts an output current range from 1A to 3A, depending on the part, as well as maximum input voltage up to 76V. Switching frequency for these parts ranges from 50kHz to 2MHz, allowing the designer to pick a part that will not interfere with any other circuit on the design. Features such as internal over current protection, short circuit protection, under voltage lockout, temperature shutdown, and soft start function allow systems to have long operating life. Additionally, the BD9x series has a heat protection circuit which activates when the maximum junction temperature (Tj) exceeds 150°C. During this condition, output FET and DC/DC comparator outputs are turned off; outputs are turned on again once the temperature falls below the maximum junction temperature. Another key feature to mention, the output voltage of these regulators can very easily be changed by two resistor values. Finally, the BD9x series has very low standby current. It is possible to reduce the current consumption of these DC-DC converters to almost 0µA by setting the EN pin to logic low.
