Using a single BG96 module, AE-CLOUD2 supports multiple cellular standards, as well as a GPS receiver that enables the prototyping of position tracking applications. This table describes the global frequency support of AE-CLOUD2. The 3GPP is the standards organization responsible for defining the protocols and RF spectrum use for cellular technologies. AE-CLOUD2 also supports EGPRS which can be used if CAT-M1 or CAT-NB1 is not supported in a developer’s region or as a backup cellular connectivity option in case CAT-M1 or NB-IoT fail. With support for various cellular frequencies and technologies, the AE-CLOUD2 reference design can work anywhere in the world regardless of the protocols supported by the local carrier.
