Power cords that are intended for use on medical devices and equipment in hospitals and medical offices must meet severe testing on all plugs for maximum safety. These plugs must withstand very high mechanical abuse tests. The electrical tests are the same as other plugs. Often people believe there are more electrical tests but that is not true. A green dot on the face of a plug with the words “HOSPITAL GRADE” molded into the body is the only way to indicate it meets UL and CSA tests. They may be either clear or solid molded of any color. Connectors are not required to have hospital grade marking on them.
