Power cords normally have a temperature rating of 60°C or 105°C for use in North America. The temperature rating means that the insulation and jacket have been tested and found suitable for long term use at these temperatures. Higher temperatures mean that the material will degrade sooner if it is not capable of operating at those levels. 60°C is the minimum, and normal, rating for cords where people are usually around. If the cord is placed in a closed and heated space then consider upgrading to 105°C for increased life of the insulation. Note that the molding compounds for the plug and connector are 60°C. See the PTM on flexible cords for a more detailed explanation of temperature rating.
