The last solution that will be covered in the recommended installation process is the Soft PGS material. As covered in previous trainings, this material is ideal for use as a thermal interface material (TIM) with IGBT modules. While the material is compressible and care should be taken when removing it from the plastic packaging, it does offer more rigidity than that of the Graphite-PAD. Once the Soft PGS material is removed from the packaging, place it on a cleaned heat sink aligning the holes in the heat sink with the holes in the material. Place the IGBT module on top of the Soft PGS, again ensuring the screw holes remain aligned, and then set and tighten the screws to the IGBT module manufacturer’s recommended torque.
