A common question asked when applying the PGS material is "How much pressure should be applied to the material during installation?" This is a difficult question to answer because there is no one right answer. Every application and/or heat transfer requirement is different; therefore, there are some instances where a great amount of pressure will need to be applied and there are other cases where only a small amount of pressure is needed to get that ideal heat transfer. With that being said, the best response to this question is the thermal resistance data. The graph here shows how the thermal resistance of PGS changes based on the amount of pressure applied. By understanding the thermal resistance, the thermal conductivity can be better understood, and in turn, an idea on the amount of heat transfer can be predicted.
