A package outline of the selected microcontroller is shown in the workspace view of the LPC Initialization and pinmux tool. Each assignable port pin is identifiable through color coding – green shaded pins are available for assigning a moveable peripheral function, while grey shaded pins are fixed functions. The user interface is easy to navigate, given the menu of project controls, workspace tabs, and a convenient Help interface with searchable content. To begin assigning peripheral functions, the user selects a focal peripheral from the drop-list box, and its available signals are displayed separately. Point and click operations attach pins to peripheral functions. At any point, the workspace can be saved as a project file on a local PC. The project can be loaded at a later time when the user is ready to continue working.
