The differentiating features of the i.MX 8M are shown in this block diagram. The i.MX 8M uses a Quad Arm Cortex-A53 running at 1.5GHz and a Cortex-M4 at 266MHz, used for low power and security. Also worth noting are the interfaces, including the display and the camera interfaces. Regarding media capabilities, what positions the i.MX 8M as an excellent solution for media applications is the 3D GPU, 4Kp60, the High Dynamic Range Support and all the audio that is supported. The i.MX 8M Dual is the same as the Quad, except it has two cores instead of four, is made for applications requiring less processing capability, and also has a lower price point.
