Microchip is trying to make MPU designs easier! The SAMA5D2 System in Package (SiP) combines an MPU core with DDR2 memory in a single package, dramatically reducing PCB layout complexity and eliminating any EMI issues caused by an improperly laid out DRAM interface. The industrial grade integrated SAMA5D2 SiP devices allow for a more compact PCB design with fewer layers, saving overall system cost. Payment Card Interface (PCI) security standard compliance means that designers can implement a secure and resilient system impervious to malicious attacks. Having a single supplier for both the MPU and the memory removes the issues of DRAM price fluctuation and obsolescence, improving predictability of the supply chain. SAMA5D2 SiP devices are included in Microchip’s customer driven obsolescence policy, which means that Microchip will continue producing products throughout the customer’s product life cycle.
