A copper pad is introduced on top of the PCB. The shape of this pad does not matter but the area is very important. A larger pad allows higher sensitivity and detection of a sensor touch by the system. As shown in the illustration, a natural parasitic capacitance (Cp) has also been introduced so that it terminates at the grounds of the system.
