Right out of the box the MCSK arrives ready to start spinning. It comes pre-programmed with the full sensorless BLDC motor control package, including the mTouch slider for motor speed control. Microchip also includes a wealth of software with the MCSK. Application note AN1160 explains sensorless BLDC control from the ground up, including the theory of operation for BLDC motors. Based on AN1160, the software source code for the MCSK is available free of charge from Microchip’s website and includes all necessary support files. Finally, all hardware files for the board are available for free as well, including schematics and bill of materials.
