At the heart of the MCSK board is the Microchip dsPIC33FJ16MC102 low cost digital signal controller. The dsPIC33F has integrated DSP acceleration, allowing it to execute the mathematics necessary for sensorless control while running at a speed of just 16 MIPS. It also has advanced PWM peripherals designed to easily generate the PWM signals needed to control the BLDC motor very precisely. The integrated 10-bit ADC enables fast sampling of the voltage signals needed for sensorless BLDC control. Finally, the dsPIC33F includes Microchip’s innovative mTouch™ peripheral for capacitive touch sensing for touch based buttons and sliders. At a low cost, the dsPIC33FJ16MC102 is a great fit for cost sensitive sensorless BLDC systems.
