The Motor Control Starter Kit, or MCSK, from Microchip provides everything needed to start learning about sensorless BLDC motor control in a 2”x5” board. Typical BLDC motor systems use hall effect sensors to detect the position of the rotor. These sensors add another point of failure and also add additional costs to the system. A sensorless BLDC motor control system uses feedback from the motor to calculate the position of the rotor, eliminating the need for sensors.
