A conventional split-mount microwave backhaul radio comprises two units, the indoor unit and outdoor unit. The IDU is located at the tower base. The transmitter transmits a 350MHz IF through coaxial cable up to the tower mast where the ODU with antenna reside. The ODU up converts the 350MHz IF to a 2nd IF of 1835MHz which is passed on to the next stage, a microwave radio up converter section.
